Any suggestions? I heard Wednesday Wars is supposed to be good. I'm open. I promise to be wrapping up "The Graveyard Book" by the end of November. Next Week!
Wednesday Wars - too funny, I just finished it and am working on creating an inquiry unit based on the book! It's good - reminds me a bit of the TV show The Wonder Years (similar family dynamic, set in late 60's). In my view, it's very suitable for 6th graders; does a great job with the issues of identity and coming of age. Vietnam War, the civil rights and the women's movements could provide a nice tie-in with social studies; Shakespeare connection would work as well, especially here in the Chicago area... As far as other book suggestions - do you have any particular genre in mind?
