I loved loved loved the chapter told from Almondine's perspective. It was touching and fresh. Is the miscarriage too much for 8th graders to handle? We read "The Giver" and there is euthanasia.....hmmmmm something to think about.
While I thoroughly enjoyed the voice the author gave to various charaters, I have to say that I loved Almondine's chapter the most. I loved it so much that I read that chapter 3 times! It is clear throughout the book that Almondine is devoted and protective of Edgar but this chapter brings that lump in your throat kind of depth to those, dare I say, "maternalistic" feelings and behaviors. Is it fair to compare Alomondine and Trudy?
